"When he shall die,

Take him and cut him out in little stars,

And he will make the face of heaven so fine

That all the world will be in love with night,

And pay no worship to the garish sun."

(Quote used by Joyce Broughton in response to letter of condolence on Mr. Cushing’s passing)

Welcome to the first on-line issue of ‘THE CUSHING CONFIDENTIAL’. Long time Peter Cushing Association members will remember that the magazine was formerly called ‘THE CUSHING COURIER’. Since taking over the running of the PCA I decided that we would start anew with a different title. This has been an exciting year for Peter Cushing fans as many of his films are beginning to make their way to the DVD format and a planned tribute to him at the Chatham Royal Theatre is set for later on in September of this year. From the amount of people contacting me about the PCA it is easy to conclude that Mr. Cushing’s popularity with his fans is still growing strong.

The PCA has started a write in campaign to US cable station A&E to get them to feature an episode of their ‘BIOGRAPHY’ series on Peter Cushing. With an upcoming separate ‘BIOGRAPHY’ station this wish just might become a reality. If you would like to help with the campaign, please make your voice heard and write to: A&E Viewer Relations, 235 East 45th Street, New York NY 10017, USA

A note of interest: Mr. Cushing’s home at 3, Seaway Cottages, Whitstable has been sold. The buyer is a film maker but there is not much more information besides that.

Another note of interest for fans of Mr. Cushing is David Miller’s new biography on him which is now available. You can order yours at http://www.amazon.com. Details are inside this issue.

Fans of Peter Cushing should join the Peter Cushing List Group. This list is meant to be a place where admirers of Peter Cushing can get together and discuss or raise questions regarding the great man. All aspects regarding Mr Cushing are open to discussion, such as his appearance in many of Hammer's films, his contrasting roles as the good Professor Van Helsing and the evil Baron Frankenstein, his Amicus film roles and other productions, his writing, his painting and his love of Beethoven and war games! In fact, anything to do with Peter Cushing is open. So sit back and enjoy the discussion and remember: no smoking, not even Abdullahs! Created by PCA member Matthew Naylor. (Click on PC List Group on this website's home page to join).

A lot of people have helped out with this on-line magazine and I sincerely thank them for all their assistance - the Cushing Confidential could not have been completed without them! I would also like to ask anyone who is interested in helping out with future issues of the Cushing Confidential to please contact me. As in the past, if anyone is interested in sending donations in Peter's honor - the address is  Pilgrim’s Hospice, Canterbury, Kent, England. This is the hospital which cared for Peter's wife Helen and so it was Mr. Cushing's wish that all donations in his honor be sent there.

Well, I hope you enjoy reading this issue as there has been a lot of work put into it by not only myself, but the various PCA members who took the time to write or draw for the magazine. Until next time best wishes wish for you and your loved ones.

Cheers,

Chris Gullo
